Some Merry Elves!

Hi! I am so excited - my Elf Anya arrived! I found The Greeting Farm a little over a year ago and I just missed out on this cute Elf Anya at that time! I was always bummed that I missed getting her and then on Black Friday Marie offered her up one last time! I got up at 4:45 AM so I could be online when she went up for sale and YEAH! I got her!! And then I promptly turned her into a boy (or at least one of her!!) For any of you that want to do gender surgery on her, it was pretty easy - after inking her up I wiped off her skirt with a baby wipe, then drew in the missing parts to make tights (I gave them stripes, too!) and I cut off her ponytail curls when cutting her out. And, just because I knew I was putting "him" on a card with her I wanted the hats to be different so for his hat I stamped her one extra time, cut out the hat leaving some extra on the bottom, flipped it over and redrew the bell details and added stripes.

Trim the Tree With Mistletoe...

Mistletoe Snowhill, that is!! I just had to make another card with one of Amy's new fairies - Mistletoe Snowhill (her new line of stamps - Sweet November Stamps - is now being put out by CC Designs and are available at All That Scraps!!) I used the Mojo Monday 115 sketch.

This time I did a teeny bit of altering by wiping away the mistletoe in her hand and drawing a Christmas ornament instead. I decorated her dress and the ornaments with lots of Taylors Tiny Twinkles! Oh, and I was SO proud of myself for the tree! I'm sure I'm probably not the first to do this, although I don't recall seeing it anywhere before - I used my Stampin Up Scallop Circle Punch and Large Oval Punch to make the tree! I punched 3 scalloped circles and marked a "center" on each circle between 2 scallops. For the top layer of the tree I marked 5 scallops away from the "center" on each side then lined up the oval punch with the center and the marking on one side and punched. I then repeated that for the other side. The other two layers were done the same way, only the marks were 4 scallops away on the second layer and 3 away on the bottom layer. The top layer was the most difficult because you don't have much to hold onto for your second punch but the other two layers were pretty easy!

The Details:
Stamp: Mistletoe Snowhill - Sweet November Stamps through CC Designs, sentiment - Verve
Paper: Bo Bunny, PTI New Leaf, Dark Chocolate, White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Colorbox Fresh Green, Dew Drops Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy, Memento Rich Cocoa

A Couple of Verve Challenges

Hi! This weekend was the Verve release party and during that party they issued 5 challenges. I really wanted to do all 5 but I only got 2 done. I may try to do the other 3 later but I know I won't have them done in time to be eligible for the prizes (which is totally ok!)! The first one I did was a color challenge of Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Black and White (or similar colors.) I used the Verve set Holly Jolly.

The Details:
Stamp: Holly Jolly - Verve
Paper: Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Whisper White
Misc: Detail Black Embossing Powder, Darice Gems, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Nestabilities Rectangles

The second challenge that I got done was to make a mini pizza box. I had never done one before but the tutorial on Splitcoast was very easy to follow and it was a lot of fun! I used some older Basic Grey paper from my stash and the Verve set O Christmas Tree.

The Details:
Stamp: O Christmas Tree - Verve
Paper: Basic Grey, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
Copics: R24, R27, R29,R59,YG95,YG97,Y26,B91,B93,B95

Meet Mistletoe Snowhill!

Hi! I hope you all have been having a wonderful weekend. Why do long weekends go by so quickly?.....

Today I get to show you another new fairy by Amy (A Thousand Sheets of Paper). Her new line of stamps, Sweet November Stamps, is being carried by All That Scraps. This one is called Mistletoe Snowhill, and she and Holly Starshine will be available on Monday!! I used the Whimsical Wednesday sketch for my card. If you are not familiar with Whimsical Wednesdays - The Diedrich Dare, Jessica's (aka The Whisical Butterfly) kids create the challenge each week! I just could not resist the sketch by her son Jack this week!! I also used a LOT of sparkle on this card so I took a picture with the flash this time so more of the sparkle would show. Several of the background papers were sprayed with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer or Silver Foil and I used my Sakura Clear Star glitter pen liberally!!

The Details:
Stamp: Mistletoe Snowhill - Sweet November Stamps through CC Designs (All That Scraps)
Paper: It's a Little Flaky (digi paper from Sweet Shoppe Designs), Almost Amethyst, Orchid Opulence - SU, PTI White
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair:BV000
Clothes and Wings: V04,V15,V06, BV01,BV02,BV04 w/B000 over them

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day! I am just sneaking down to the computer for a few minutes while the potatoes are cooking to post a card I made with one of Amy's new Holiday fairies that will be available on Monday at All That Scraps! This is Holly Starshine! Isn't she adorable!? I LOVE these fairies!! Amy is so talented!!

I have been wondering lately if I provide enough information on the making of my cards. I always give the recipe, but unless there is something a little unusual I don't give an explanation. If you would like me to write more about them, let me know. On this card card, I used an EK Success Holly border punch (although it was called a border punch, it actually cut that strip out). I cut a white strip of cardstock slightly smaller than the border strip, held the border strip over it and marked with dots of color where the openings were. I then colored those areas with a green and red marker so that when I layered the black border piece over it the leaves showed green and the berries showed red. I also used a glitter pen to draw veins on all of the leaves. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I used the Taylored Expressions #92 sketch!!

The Details:
Stamps: Holly Starshine - Sweet November through CC Designs (available at All That Scraps), sentiment - Verve
Paper: Bo Bunny (Holly), My Minds Eye (red and white dot), Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Garden Green - SU, PTI White
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair: C3,C5,C7, 100
Clothes and Wings: YG11,YG17,G17,G19,R22,R24,R27,R29
Misc: Stickles - Burgundy and Holly, Sakura Clear Star gel pen, EK Success Border Punch, Martha Stewart Holly Punch, Darice gems

Thanks for visiting me today! Good luck tomorrow if you are facing the madness and I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!
